Welcome to Homeschool Texas

Hi, I'm Cat! I've been homeschooling my three children for 15 years. So much of what I love about our lifestyle is the freedom to explore and the amazing decentralized community we have developed along the way.

Through my work on amazing projects like Greenbriar Community School and Game of Village, and my travels speaking about intentional communities and community schools, I've seen how much we can learn when we bring people together. That belief is at the heart of Homeschool Texas.

I started this site because there are so many wonderful opportunities for homeschool families here, but finding them can feel like a job of its own. A homeschool day gets buried in a Facebook group. A friend mentions a field trip after registration has closed. You discover a great program and wonder how you went years without knowing it existed.

I wanted a place where we could find these opportunities, share them, and spend more time enjoying them with our kids.

What you'll find here

  • Events across Texas: homeschool days, museum visits, outdoor adventures, classes, conventions, and opportunities to meet other families.
  • Groups and resources: co-ops, community schools, field trip groups, homeschool organizations, and programs and discounts for homeschool families.
  • Curriculum by Cat: my Good Citizenship courses and World Geography curriculum, with more information coming as they become available.
  • The journal: a place for practical guides, discoveries, and stories from the people helping homeschool communities grow.

We're starting with Austin and Central Texas, including my own community in Bastrop County, along with San Antonio, Houston and Galveston, and Dallas and Fort Worth. I'd love to see this grow to serve families throughout the state.

Information you can use

When you're planning an outing with kids, the details matter. We link to official sources, show when we last checked a listing, and flag missing information. Please check with the organizer before heading out, since schedules, prices, and availability can change.

I'm especially excited to share affordable weekday adventures, free programs, homeschool discounts, and experiences that help bring what we're learning to life.

Let's build this together

Maybe you organize a co-op, know about a wonderful homeschool program, or found a field trip your kids are still talking about. I'd love to hear about it.

Have an event, group, or deal to share? Submit it here so we can review it for the site.

My hope is that Homeschool Texas helps you find your next adventure and some people to share it with.

Welcome! I'm glad you're here.
